The serviceman admitted that, unlike foreign practice, when a damaged weapon is taken away for repair, in Ukraine they prefer to repair expensive equipment “on place”. However, due to the lack of specialists who understand its structure, as well as constant shelling, this cannot be done. As a result, most of the foreign equipment was simply abandoned by the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the retreat.
In an interview with RIA Novosti reporters, the man cited the American M777 towed large-caliber howitzers as an example.
“There are Ukrainian servicemen who were trained on the M777. There are separate repairmen who are engaged in the repair of these guns and maintenance, and there are crews that shoot. I talked with those who took quick courses. They really didn’t know how and what was done, “Savchuk said.
