Roscosmos canceled the launch of Soyuz with British OneWeb communications satellites

Launch of Soyuz-2.1b communication with the British OneWeb communication satellites from the Baikonur Cosmodrome was canceled on March 5, said Dmitry Rogozin, Director General of Roscosmos.

He instructed to stop preparations for launch, remove the rocket from the launch complex, and send the spacecraft to the assembly and test complex for conservation.

In addition, Roscosmos will stop preparing for all subsequent launches of OneWeb satellites from the Kuru, Vostochny and Baikonur cosmodromes, TASS reports.

On March 2, Rogozin announced that the corporation would not launch a rocket with British satellites, if there are no guarantees that this system will be used only for civilian purposes.

The day before, the OneWeb board of directors voted to suspend all launches from Baikonur. It should be noted that by the end of 2022, six Soyuz-2.1b launches were planned from the cosmodrome, which were supposed to launch 428 communication satellites.
