Patriarch Kirill led the procession in the Kremlin on the Day of the Baptism of Russia

On the Day of the Baptism of Russia, Patriarch Kirill leads the procession from the Assumption Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin to the monument to St. Prince Vladimir on Borovitsky Hill. There he will perform a prayer service to the saint, RIA Novosti reports.

The baptism of Russia took place on July 28 (according to the old style – July 15) in 988 at the initiative of Prince Vladimir. Traditionally, on this day, bells ring in churches, religious processions are held. Since 2010, the holiday has been a state memorial date in Russia.

Earlier it was reported that Pope Francis could meet with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in Kazakhstan.
