Assistant to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, who participated in the talks with the Ukrainian side in Belarus, said that the next round would take place in the coming days.
According to Medinsky, who spoke to reporters, the next negotiations could take place on the Polish-Belarusian border .
He did not go into details, limiting himself to the phrase that the parties went through the entire agenda and found some points “by which common positions can be predicted.”
Negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations began at about 13:00 Moscow time in the area of the Pripyat River, not far from the Belarusian-Ukrainian border. We managed to arrange a meeting the day before. The Ukrainian delegation included, among other things, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov and the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada David Arakhamia.
The Russian delegation was headed by Medinsky, and Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Boris Gryzlov also took part in the meeting.
Initially it was assumed that the negotiations would be held in Gomel , however, Vladimir Zelensky initially claimed that he did not want a meeting in Belarus, since he considers this country to be one of the parties to the conflict. However, after a conversation with Alexander Lukashenko, who guaranteed the safety of all participants in the dialogue, the Ukrainian delegation nevertheless went to the neighboring country through Poland.
The Russian military operation in Ukraine began on February 24th. According to President Vladimir Putin, the special operation was a forced measure, and its purpose— protect the inhabitants from “genocide”.
